Nickolas

He went to the doctor today for his 12 month check up. Here are his stats:

29 inches tall (25th percentile)

17 pounds 1 ounce (below the 2nd percentile)

Nickolas is a happy and healthy little boy and we love him so much.

Nickolas turned 1 on March 19. I can't believe how fast this last year has gone. Here are some pictures from his birthday party.

Cake Fiasco

Making Nickolas's cakes turned out to be quite the fiasco.

The boys were glued to the oven when the cake first started baking. Nickolas kept looking, laughing and pointing at the bear in the oven.

He just figured this out.

Mathias had been asking me for cake all day and kept hearing the answer, "No!" He couldn't stand it anymore and took the first chance he could to get some cake. I went upstairs to get Nickolas from his nap and came down to find Mathias sitting at the table eating off the head of Nickolas's cake.

I didn't put the clamps on the cake mold in the correct location and half of the batter ended up leaking out giving me only half of a bear. Luckily I put foil on the cookie sheet holding the cake pan. So, after a quick trip to the store for more cake mix and a late night I was able to get the cakes baked and decorated.

A Day at the Park

The weather has been beautiful the last week or so and we have been able to spend a lot of time outside and at the park. Mathias loves to be able to play with the other little boys at the park.

There were other kids there that he was playing with but I didn't think their moms would appreciate me taking their pictures.

Nickolas loved being in the swing. He was laughing or smiling the whole time.

Trouble...

This is why I usually don't shower unless Brian is home or Nickolas is asleep or at least confined to his crib. This morning while I was in the shower, he unrolled and shredded a roll of toilet paper. Luckily, the roll was almost gone.

I'm a Big Kid Now!

We promised Mathias a bike when he was potty trained and he has finally earned it! Brian took Mathias to pick out a bike a little over a week ago and Mathias was so excited. He rides it all of the time and likes to play with Nickolas on his little bike.

Mathias and Puppy

A few days ago I was changing Nickolas when Mathias came into the room with his stuffed puppy and sat on the rocking chair. I turned around to see what Mathias was doing and he had his puppy under his shirt “feeding” him. That night at dinner I was telling Brian what Mathias was doing with his puppy and Mathias said, “Puppy was just trying to get my nipples.” We’re not quite sure where he learned about nipples.

Bowling

We took the boys bowling for the first time last night and had a lot of fun.

Nickolas loved watching everything that was going on and eating tater tots.

Mathias had a blast and was so excited to wear bowling shoes and have a bowling ball that looked like Curious George's.

Mathias bowled a 69 and beat his mom. Bowling is a lot harder in real life than it is on the wii. :)
